The Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) convened for a regular session on April 14, 2025. The meeting took place in person at the BOCC Chambers, with a hybrid option available.

Chair Nida Allam initiated the session, followed by the Land Acknowledgement read by Commissioner Wendy Jacobs. Attendees participated in the Pledge of Allegiance led by Commission Vice Chair Lee.

No changes were made to the agenda during the session. Several announcements were made, including ongoing initiatives and submissions deadlines for local programs.

Entries for the Budget Cover Contest are to be submitted by April 15, with an extension until May 1. Durham County Government offices will be closed on April 18 for Good Friday. Young women in grades 9-12 are encouraged to apply for the North Carolina Emergency Management Experience by April 21.

The Board made several proclamations recognizing April 2025 for various causes, such as Fair Housing Month, Second Chance Month, and others. These proclamations aim to raise awareness and honor contributions in areas like housing, criminal justice, maternal health, and community culture.

In the consent agenda, the Board approved various contracts and agreements, from crisis communications to fire alarm systems replacements in Durham County facilities. Some items were pulled for individual approval, such as contracts related to the Durham County Sheriff’s Training Facility, and an ordinance amendment related to the Sheriff's Office Medication-Assisted Treatment grant.

The Board entered a closed session and authorized negotiations related to land acquisitions. The meeting concluded at 9 p.m.
