Congresswoman Valerie Foushee, representing North Carolina's 4th District, has shared a series of tweets highlighting various issues and her recent engagements. Foushee has been serving in U.S. Congress since 2023, succeeding David Price, and has previously held positions in both the North Carolina Senate and House of Representatives.

In a tweet dated April 10, 2025, Foushee criticized the Republicans' SAVE ACT. She stated, "The Republicans' SAVE ACT restricts voting for millions of eligible citizens and would cost every day Americans billions of dollars." She expressed pride in her decision to vote against the bill, calling it a "modern-day Jim Crow bill" that could potentially suppress votes and impose financial burdens on Americans.

Later that same day, she shared her experience of meeting Shunav Sen, the winner of the NC04 App Challenge, and his team from the North Carolina School of Science and Math. Foushee emphasized the importance of student-led projects, noting in her tweet, "Seeing the work of our students is inspiring, and I will continue to uplift these programs that promote their continued success." Sen's app, Skin Spot, aids in diagnosing skin conditions.

Foushee also attended a meeting with PhD students from Duke attending the AAAS Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering workshop. In her tweet from April 10, 2025, she highlighted discussions on the significance of federal funding for scientific institutions. Foushee remarked on the necessity of support for organizations like the NSF and NIH, noting "We stressed the need for Congress to fund @NSF and @NIH to ensure a strong domestic workforce and our nation's global STEM competitiveness."

Valerie Foushee, born in Chapel Hill and residing in Hillsborough, has built a substantial political career, including serving on the Orange County Board of Commissioners. She is an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
