In a series of recent statements, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee, representing North Carolina’s 4th District and serving in Congress since 2023, has addressed concerns regarding the treatment of international students and potential impacts on residents of her district.
On April 9, 2025, Foushee expressed serious concerns regarding reports that "international students in NC-04 were unjustly targeted by the Trump Admin, and had their visas revoked and education disrupted without any explanation." (source).
Following this, she stated her commitment to the issue, noting that she is "monitoring the situation closely and will fight to get answers and hold this administration accountable." (source).
Additionally, addressing local economic concerns on the same day, Foushee highlighted that "in #NC04, 155,000 people are at risk of losing their healthcare and 68,000 people are at risk of losing vital food assistance if the Republican budget passes." She declared her opposition, stating she is "voting no on the GOP's attempt to cut these vital services to hand trillions in handouts to billionaires." (source).
