Volunteers and staff from the Durham County Department of Public Health, Partnership for a Healthy Durham, Duke Health, and community members will be conducting surveys throughout Durham County as part of the Community Health Assessment (CHA). This public health survey occurs every three years to evaluate the county's health strengths and needs.
The survey aims to gather direct feedback from residents about their health and well-being, community strengths, areas needing improvement, and more. In 2024, residents identified key health priorities: affordable housing; access to healthcare and insurance; community safety; mental health; physical activity; nutrition; and food access. The information collected assists both the public and elected officials in addressing these crucial issues.
Each survey is expected to take between 10-15 minutes and is available in English and Spanish. Participants who complete it will receive a thank-you gift. Responses are anonymous. Surveyors will be identifiable by their blue t-shirts labeled 'Survey Team.'
