Just after 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a deputy in Durham, North Carolina, observed a vehicle being driven recklessly. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle near Geer Street and US 70 by using lights and sirens, but the driver did not comply. The pursuit continued for approximately six miles along Geer Street onto a dirt road near Falls Lake before it ended.

Additional deputies arrived at the scene to assist with the search on foot. They found the vehicle submerged in Falls Lake shortly afterward. Fire and EMS were called to assess the situation and determined that the vehicle was unoccupied. Evidence suggested that the driver had exited onto land.

The Sheriff's Office Search and Recovery team is currently working to remove the vehicle from the water and conduct further searches. The investigation remains active, and more information will be provided when available.

"More Information will be released when appropriate," stated an official source from the Sheriff's Office.
