County of Durham issued the following announcement on Dec. 12.
The Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) met in Regular Session at 7p.m. This virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements to ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County staff.

Durham Residents Can Now Receive Additional Help with their Water Bill - The State of NC has awarded $38 million in federal funding to the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to assist residents who are behind with payments or facing disconnection. Residents are asked to call 919-560-8000 to schedule a virtual appointment or visit the Human Services Building at 414 E. Main Street to pick up a paper application. Volunteer for Cooperative Extension Advisory Council - The Durham Cooperative Extension is looking for a representative group of community members who have experience with County Cooperative Extension programming. 8. Durham County Government will close most offices in observance of the winter holiday on Thursday, December 23rd, Friday December 24th and Monday, December 27th, 2021. All offices will reopen with their normal hours of operation on Tuesday, December 28th.
Most offices will close again on Friday, December 31, 2021 in recognition of the New Year’s Day holiday and reopen on Monday, January 3, 2022.
