COUNTY OF DURHAM: Residents Can Receive Help With Their Energy Bill

County of Durham issued the following announcement on Dec. 10. 

Starting Wednesday, December 1, 2021, the Durham County Department of Social Services Low-Income Energy Assistance (LIEAP) specialists will begin servicing residents ages 60 years old and older, along with those who are disabled and who receive Food and Nutrition Services with their applications to receive help with their energy bill. 

Durham residents are to call (919) 560-8192 to make a virtual appointment with LIEAP specialists on staff.  For those residents who are comfortable completing the LIEAP application without assistance, must visit, http://epass.nc.gov  to apply for the one-time energy assistance benefit. 

On January 3, 2022, all Durham residents will be eligible to apply for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), they too, can make a virtual appointment by phone for assistance, or simply visit the state’s website to complete their application.  The LIEAP program ends March 31, 2022.
