New

County of Durham issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.

The Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents who are also social distancing important information on our programs and services with the “In Touch with Durham County” show for December 2021 shot completely online and safe!

The show is available to watch on the DCo YouTube channel here; as well as on the Durham County Government website and the Durham Television Network.

In this month’s episode, host Deborah Craig-Ray, General Manager of Strategic Planning and Innovation, presents a Year in Review for Durham County in 2021. This was the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Craig-Ray talks about how Durham County Government is managing through this period, providing programs and services for all residents.

For Part 1 of the Year in Review, Craig-Ray highlights the work done by our Durham County Department of Public Health in administering vaccines to the public and other new initiatives approved by the County Commissioners.

She also talks about previous episodes of “In Touch” show to introduce our two newest Commissioners – Nida Allam and Nimasheena Burns – as well as episodes dedicated to taking care of ourselves personally and professionally during the pandemic.

In Part 2, Craig-Ray discusses the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Budget Ordinance and the once-in-a-generation funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of $62 million.

The long-awaited opening of the Durham County Main Library in downtown finally happened in the summer – and departments were honored for efforts on the state, national and international level. Durham County continues to be a beacon for economic development with hundreds of new jobs being created by companies who are investing hundreds of millions of dollars here.

Lastly, we show the International City County Management Association (ICMA) video feature – “Durham County: A Resilient Community.”
