MOORESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: Participates In Yearly Audits of Compliance by CALEA Assessors

Morrisville Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 5. 

CALEA stands for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The purpose of CALEA is to improve the delivery of public safety services, primarily by maintaining a body of standards developed by public safety practitioners, covering a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives. The benefits of participating in the CALEA Accreditation process is to increase integrity, transparency, and accountability for the agency through community-oriented policing. 

The Morrisville Police Department participates in yearly audits of compliance by CALEA assessors and has been an accredited since 2009. During these assessments, the assessors review all department policies, procedures, and proofs to ensure the department is following the CALEA Standards Manual. In 2019, the Morrisville Police Department was Awarded their 4th Accreditation Award and Re-accredited though CALEA. Morrisville Police Department is currently in Accreditation Year 3 of a 4 Year Cycle. 

On 10/28/2021, Morrisville Police Department began the Advanced Accreditation process, moving from the Tier 1 assessment of 181 standards to 459 standards. During assessment Year 3, October 2022, the department will be assessed as an Advanced Accredited Agency.
