City Of Raleigh Water Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.
Raleigh Water, in partnership with Xylem Inc, has developed an advanced modeling system that predicts when water main breaks will happen in our water distribution system.
This modeling system will also be used to help with the replacement of aging water infrastructure. Using this cutting-edge technology, Raleigh Water operations can be more proactive when protecting our shared water system. Being able to respond quickly to system needs will not only save customers time and decrease stress; it will protect the environment. Raleigh Water’s equity goals of providing reliable water service to all of its valued customers will continue stronger than ever. Raleigh Water is proud to be one of the few utilities in the nation to use this advanced modeling system.
Raleigh Water provides water and sanitary sewer services to 198,000 metered customers while also meetings the service needs of a population of 600,000 people in the communities of Garner, Wake Forest, Raleigh, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell and Zebulon.
