Durham County policymakers discuss projects, awards

The Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on Aug. 24 held a virtual meeting to discusses projects and awards. 

During the meeting, Chairwoman Wendy Jacobs highlighted the Main Library project team and the system for receiving the 2020 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Triangle North Carolina Honor Award by the Library County, according to a press release from the county on Aug. 25. The system for receiving the 2020 AIA Triangle North Carolina Isosceles Award was also discussed. 

Other highlights at the meeting include, property tax releases and refunds report for June and July; a Budget Ordinance Amendment for $80,038 was approved; Glenn Elementary Roof Replacement received $1,490,000 from the Public-School Building Capital Fund Lottery Funds; $500,000 was allocated to Beam Therapeutics; a Budget Ordinance Amendment for $470,250 was approved for Home Delivered Meals for Food Insecure Families.

The next board meeting will be held on Sept. 10.
