Congresswoman Valerie Foushee, representing North Carolina’s 4th district, recently shared her views on several issues via social media. Foushee, who succeeded David Price in 2023, has a background in the North Carolina House of Representatives and Senate and was born in Chapel Hill.

On December 11, 2024, Congresswoman Foushee expressed her decision to vote against the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). She stated: "Today, I made the difficult decision to vote against the FY25 NDAA. Congress has the obligation to support our military, but I could not vote for legislation which limits inclusivity & restricts servicemember's families from making their own health care decisions."

The following day, December 12, 2024, she announced that applications were open for the 2025 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarships. According to her post: "Applications are now open for the 2025 @CBCFinc Scholarships! The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation awards more than 300 scholarships to incoming freshmen, undergraduate students, and master/doctoral candidates." She provided a link for further information.

Later on December 12, Foushee thanked President Biden for his use of clemency and pardon powers. She commented: "Thank you @POTUS for using your clemency and pardon powers to reunite families and address the systemic injustices in our legal system. I hope to see the continued use of this authority to help the millions of Americans who are burdened by the harms of mass incarceration."
