Durham County Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead announced the arrest of Daijone Lamear Mack, 24, of Durham. Mack faces multiple charges after a traffic stop earlier today.
During a Governor’s Highway Safety Program operation, in collaboration with the NC State Highway Patrol, the Durham County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop near NC 70 at South Miami Boulevard. The investigation revealed that Mack possessed two handguns, an assault rifle, over 13 ounces of marijuana, and a substantial amount of cash. Following this, Mack was arrested and charged with several offenses:
- Felony possession of marijuana
- Maintaining a place/vehicle for a controlled substance
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Mack was seen by a magistrate, posted a $5,000 secured bond, and was released.
Sheriff Birkhead commented, “This multi-office enforcement is an example of the excellent working relationship we have with fellow law enforcement, both locally and across the state. Seeing the volume and type of this contraband moving around our local communities is troubling as we continue to reduce crime across Durham County.”
