Durham County Government is preparing to launch its redesigned website, www.dconc.gov, as part of a multi-year Website Modernization Initiative by the Information Services and Technology Department. The new site aims to enhance user experience with improved content, accessibility features, and updated technology.
Durham County Manager Claudia Hager emphasized the importance of a modern website for public engagement: “An organization’s website is an essential part of its public image and a powerful tool for connecting with its audience.”
The project involved collaboration with Northwoods as the designer, utilizing Titan CMS for development. The relaunch is expected in spring and will include enhanced functionality on both desktop and mobile devices. Key features will be stronger search capabilities, better security measures, a ChatBot service, and removal of outdated information.
A notable addition is an AI-powered Botpress chatbot that operates 24/7 to provide users with immediate answers in their preferred language. This aligns with Durham County's focus on accessibility improvements under ADA regulations.
Greg Marrow, Durham County Chief Information Officer, stated: “Our new website is more than just a facelift – it’s a complete transformation in how we serve our residents.” He noted significant changes since the last update in 2015 to meet evolving technological standards and user expectations.
For further details about the relaunch, inquiries can be directed to the Durham County Public Information Office at 919-560-9920 or via email at publicinformationoffice@dconc.gov.
