During a meeting of the Durham Board of County Commissioners, three ceremonial items were enacted in addition to several other agenda items covered.
During the Oct. 12 meeting, according to a press release from Durham County, the board proclaimed Durham Domestic and Care Workers Day as Oct. 13 in the County.
"Domestic and care workers were among the many essential workers who have worked throughout the pandemic and do all they can to support the communities that rely on them. Their work is invaluable to us all and should be recognized as such." the county said in the press release.
Durham County IS&T was also congratulated during the meeting to be among the Top 10 Digital County for its population category (250,000 - 499,000).
October was also proclaimed as Cybersecurity Awareness Month in the county, which goes along with the 2020 theme Do Your Part #BeCyberSmart, according to the press release. This theme aims to "empower organizations and citizens to learn" to protect themselves on a cyber level.
