Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.

Policygenius is set to occupy 555 Mangum in early 2020

The Durham Chamber played a key role in both working with Policygenius to open its second headquarters in Downtown Durham, and in the landmark development of 555 Mangum Street. The signing of the occupancy lease on October 31st between these two entities is especially unique to Downtown, as this is the first office-building project real estate firm Akridge, in partnership with Northwood Ravin, has built outside of the DC Metro area, and the first time in recent years, an office building in Durham was erected without a pre-existing tenant.

“Policygenius is happy to announce 555 Mangum in Durham as the home for our second headquarters,” said Jennifer Fitzgerald, CEO and co-founder of Policygenius. “We’re excited to be part of the community and to have the support of residents and groups like the Durham Chamber of Commerce.”

The Durham Chamber had been involved with 555 Mangum long before the developer broke ground, helping to get the word out about what is now an 11-story, 240,000 square-foot office and retail tower that has reshaped the Durham skyline. The project features ground floor and rooftop level retail opportunities, a penthouse conference center, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, a landscaped courtyard, and a rooftop lounge and terrace overlooking downtown Durham and the American Tobacco campus.

“We could not be more pleased with this outcome,” said Timothy Downs, Senior Vice President of Economic Development of Durham Chamber. “To have such a renowned developer like Akridge and a tech giant like Policygenius, choose Durham over many cities and bring a state-of-the-art facility and so many jobs to our community, is both exciting and humbling.”

The project is scheduled to be complete in early 2020, at which time Policygenius will take occupancy.

“This cutting-edge firm brings a tremendous amount of energy and is growing rapidly. We think they will be a perfect fit for both the project, and for Downtown Durham with its abundance of local tech talent and proximity to Duke University,” said Adam Golden, Vice President of Development with Northwood Ravin. “This would not have been possible without the tireless work of Geoff Durham and the Durham Chamber.”
