Join us for a one-of-a-kind reception and art exhibition! Thanks to a generous grant from Welcoming America, our Community Engagement team from the Neighborhood Improvement Services Department brought together long-term Durham residents, youth, immigrants, and refugees from diverse backgrounds to develop artwork on themes of migration, home, and belonging.

Durham teens developed paintings reflecting on the notion of home and belonging, immigrant women created a quilt sharing the stories of their lives in Durham and their home countries, and over 291 residents decorated a puzzle piece with something they love about their community and what makes them feel at home to create a Community Puzzle.

Now, we invite the Durham community to experience this captivating work at the Peace by Piece: Art, Belonging, and Community art exhibition as part of Third Friday Durham Art Walk & Gallery Crawl on June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.

There will be FREE food, music, and art all evening – plus a recognition of participants and their contributions. Join us!
