CITY OF DURHAM: Streetscape improvements are coming soon!

City of Durham issued the following announcement on Dec. 1.

Streetscape improvements are coming soon! Signs will mark downtown work zones.

New trees are coming to Orange Street Mall in downtown Durham! Orange St., between W. Parrish St. & E. Chapel Hill St., will temporarily close to drivers & pedestrians beginning on Monday, Dec. 5. The closure is expected to last approximately one week.

Our Urban Forestry crews will remove invasive and declining trees from this area. They’ll add new planters and 15 native trees, including American Holly, Sweet Bay Magnolia, Blackgum, and Tulip Poplar.

At the same time, our crews will also transfer three planters from City Hall Annex to the corner of Parrish St. & Cocoran St. to beautify the walkway from CCB Plaza.
