A Durham, North Carolina, woman celebrated her 110th birthday Oct. 10 with friends and family.

She even got birthday wishes from President Joe Biden and Gov. Roy Cooper, according to CBS 17.

Catherine Ferrell, who was born in 1912, shared a life lesson that has helped her through the years.

“Treat people like you want to be treated,” she said. “That’s all I know. If they don’t treat you like that, respect them, and keep on moving. Don’t get mad and fall out. Just keep on moving and doing what you’ve been taught to do.”

Ferrell was born in Warsaw, North Carolina. She has witnessed some milestones in her lifetime, living through two world wars, the Great Depression, the Civil Rights Movement and, most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ferrell said she credits her long life to her faith, which supplied the driving force behind her “do unto others” approach to life.
