Durham Public Schools issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.
Durham Public Schools extend our condolences to the family and friends of Isijah Carrington, a former student of Northern Preparation and Performance Learning Center, who, as announced by the Durham Police Department today, lost his life in the tragic shooting on Mathison Street Monday morning.
We also extend our condolences to the family and friends of Ariuna Cotton, a Hillside Prep student, who also passed away in the shooting. His family has authorized DPS to recognize their loss to our community..
