MORRISVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: "Mover Over" Initiative Traffic Campaign

Safetycheck

Morrisville Police Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 8.

Good morning Morrisville! We love a good traffic campaign that seeks to educate over issuing traffic citations.

Last week, Senior Officer Rodrigues and members of patrol worked collaboratively with Morrisville Fire Department and Morrisville Public Works on a "Mover Over" initiative. The initiative focused on identifying drivers that failed to move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles or utility vehicles. Instead of being issued citations ($500 fine, class 1 misdemeanor, and 3 points on your license if convicted), drivers were provided with the attached flyer.

In total 57 drivers were stopped. While zero citations were issued, there were many 'ah ha' moments and lessons learned.
