DURHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT: Participate To Honored 338 Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

Policelightcar

issued the following announcement on Jul. 23

The Durham Police Department was honored to participate this morning with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office at the Beyond the Call of Duty End of Watch Ride in Durham, which honored 338 fallen law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty or lost by illness in 2020. The fallen officers included DCSO Lt. Terry Sampson and DCSO Sr. Detention Officer Alexander Pettiway. Our Motor Unit officers were proud to be part of the escort and DPD Senior Public Affairs Specialist Kimberle Walker sang the national anthem at the event.

For the 84 days between May 28 and August 19 of 2021, the caravan is traveling over 22,000 miles across the United States visiting cities and police departments to honor the men and women of law enforcement who paid the ultimate price in their service to local communities in 2020. The “End of Watch Ride to Remember” includes a group of motorcycle riders from the State of Washington who have been escorting a 43-foot-long trailer with photos of the fallen officers.
