City of Durham issued the following announcement on Jul. 22.
August 20 Application Deadline; Durham Continuum of Care Free Memberships Now Available
Durham organizations that help homeless residents are invited to apply for $171,504 of State of North Carolina Emergency Solutions Grant funds.
The City of Durham Community Development Department is inviting local organizations to apply to use these funds to assist people experiencing homelessness through street outreach, emergency shelter operations and services, homeless prevention, rapid re-housing, and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) implementation.
Project applications for these funds are due to the City’s Community Development Department by 3 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021. Applications must be submitted via an online SmartSheet link that will be provided by the State in the coming weeks. Project application instructions, project applications themselves, and supporting documentation requirements and information are available at the State website.
The State will offer technical assistance sessions on August 19 and August 24 to review and discuss the 2021-2022 NC ESG Request for Applications (RFA). Organizations are encouraged to attend one of these sessions. Registration is available at the following links:

At this time, the Department also is inviting the community agencies to join the Durham Continuum of Care. The Durham Continuum of Care is composed of representatives of organizations including nonprofit homeless providers, victim service providers, faith-based organizations, governments, businesses, advocates, public housing agencies, school districts, social service providers, mental health agencies, hospitals, universities, affordable housing developers, law enforcement, organizations that serve homeless and formerly homeless veterans, and homeless and formerly homeless people. The Continuum is organized to coordinate local efforts to address housing and homeless issues and to reduce homelessness. Membership is available at no cost.
