Durham Fire Department issued the following announcement on Jul. 23.
On Friday, July 23rd at 12:05 pm, the Durham Fire Department responded with Northern Wake, Raleigh, Durham Highway Fire Department, Durham EMS, and the Durham Sheriff's Department to a house in the 3400 block of Carpenter Pond Rd. Upon arrival the first engine advised that this was a one-story wood framed structure with smoke and flames visible. As units arrived, they began working to extinguish the flames by deploying multiple hand lines. There were issues with gaining entry into the house due to security bars on the windows and fire attack was made from the exterior. Three firefighters were evaluated by EMS for heat exhaustion. However, all were stable, and no one transported to the hospital. The house was not occupied at the time of the fire which is under investigation at this time.
