Four Durham-based startups were among the 16 North Carolina endeavors that recently received $160,000 in grants from NC IDEA, a private foundation that provides financial support to entrepreneurs in the state.
The Durham ventures that received funding included Lumen Design Group, Plantd Climbing, RIM Helmets and SnapPicFix, a release from the NC IDEA reported in October.
Four other Durham-based companies were also Fall 2020 NC IDEA SEED finalists, competing for a $50,000 SEED grant, the release stated. They included Davos Corporation, Rownd, Vizma Life Sciences, and Wranglesoft.
"Spanning cleantech to consumer products to medical devices and software, this group is a great representation of the diverse economic potential of the state," Thom Ruhe, president and CEO of NC IDEA, said in the release. "For many of these young companies, it is their first external validation that they are pursuing something that can become a great company, and it is very rewarding for us to help them on that journey."
