Second alleged co-conspirator enters guilty plea in Medicaid fraud charges

Fraud

A Greensboro behavioral health specialist pleaded guilty last month to Medicaid fraud in a scheme for which an alleged co-conspirator already is in prison, Attorney General Josh Stein announced in a news release at the time.

Pamela Grace Faulkner, owner of Skeen Services Inc., which offered behavioral health services to Medicaid recipients, pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, according to the news release. Faulkner allegedly submitted fraudulent Medicaid claims for about 200 patients in Beaufort, Greene, Guilford, Lenoir, Mecklenburg, Pitt and Wilson counties, according to the news release.

"This individual wasted taxpayer money that should have gone to people who need health care," Attorney General Josh Stein was quoted in the news release. "My office will protect taxpayers and hold health care providers and practices accountable when they commit fraud."

Faulkner and co-conspirator Renee Christine Borunda allegedly split more than $213,000 they received from the claims.

In November of last year, Borunda was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after her own guilty plea to conspiracy to commit health fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft.

Stein's news release about Faulkner included no sentencing information or date.
