Valerie Foushee, representing North Carolina’s 4th District, shared her perspectives on various social and political issues in a series of tweets. She highlighted her engagement with local figures, community concerns, and national policies.

On April 1, 2025, Foushee commended “Durham’s own Jessica Berryman” for her longstanding advocacy for essential policies benefiting women and families. Foushee expressed her admiration during a meeting with Berryman, organized by the Democratic Women’s Caucus.

On April 2, 2025, Foushee emphasized the importance of Social Security to African American communities. In a tweet, she noted that “Black Americans make up 25% of Social Security recipients, and any cuts to the program would devastate our communities”. She joined colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus in opposing Republican proposals to decrease Social Security funding.

Later that day, Foushee criticized a new executive order by Donald Trump, aimed at dismantling USAID. She signed an amicus brief with over 200 House Democrats, arguing against what she described as “the unconstitutional shuttering of USAID.” Foushee warned of the dire consequences within her district and globally.
