Durham County Open Space has announced the closure of several trails due to damage caused by Tropical Depression Chantal. The affected areas include the New Hope Creek Bottomlands Trail and all trails at the Matthews Road Access on the Little River, which will remain closed until further notice. “The public is asked to avoid these areas while Open Space staff continue to assess conditions and make repairs,” stated a representative.

Despite these closures, most trails at Little River Regional Park, including Hollow Rock Nature Park, remain open for public use.
