Jordan High School returns to normal after lockdown due to firearm report

Earlier today, the Orange County Sheriff's Office sought assistance to locate a missing juvenile at Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina. The school was initially placed on secure status as efforts were made to find the individual within the premises.

During this period, authorities received a tip about a student potentially possessing a firearm on campus. This prompted the school to shift from secure status to lockdown status. A search ensued, and the student in question was found at a nearby park with three other juveniles. Among them, one was indeed carrying a firearm, leading to the lifting of the lockdown.

Deputies are currently investigating the incident. The missing person has been located and returned to Orange County authorities. At present, it is not believed that these two incidents are related. No further details have been released.
