Durham County's Budget and Management Services Department is inviting young residents to participate in a contest to design the cover art for the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget Book. The contest is open to all students from Pre-K through 12th grade residing in Durham County, including those in homeschool, private school, and public schools.

Participants are encouraged to create artwork that reflects the theme "What is Your Favorite Part of Durham County?" A single winning entry will be selected by staff to feature on the cover of the budget book. Other submissions may also be included throughout the publication.

To take part, entrants must download and print a submission form and create their artwork based on the given theme. Printed forms are available at Durham County Library locations during regular hours or at the Public Information Office located at 200 E. Main Street, on the second floor of Administration I Building.

The deadline for submissions is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Completed entries can be submitted online via an official portal or QR code available on flyers and social media platforms such as Facebook, Bluesky, Instagram, or Nextdoor. Alternatively, entries can be delivered in person at the Administration I Building's front desk for forwarding to the Budget Office.

For further details about the contest and its guidelines, interested individuals can reach out to Durham County Budget Analyst Shannon Wright at sjwright@dconc.gov.
