FOIA Request to U.S. Department of the Treasury Regarding Status Update on Prior Acknowledgment Letter on October 24, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Durham Reporter sent a request to the U.S. Department of the Treasury under the DC Official Code §§ 2-531 et seq., for an update regarding a previous acknowledgment letter received on April 24, 2024.
Since receiving this acknowledgment letter, we have not received any further communication or updates from the department. Given our role in disseminating information to the public and holding public institutions accountable, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
We have requested these records preferably in electronic format and believe that as media professionals we are eligible for a fee waiver. We eagerly await a response from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and will continue our efforts in providing transparency to the public.
