The North Carolina Courage secured a 1-1 draw against Angel City FC in a match held at WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary, N.C., on Saturday night. The game attracted an audience of 7,037 fans. Despite the draw, North Carolina's performance has led them to clinch the five-seed and they will play an NWSL Quarterfinal on the road.

During the first half, North Carolina dominated with seven out of eight shots and maintained 60% possession but failed to score before halftime. Angel City responded strongly in the second half, taking four out of five shots on target as both teams ended with six total shots each.

Casey Murphy played a key role for North Carolina with three crucial saves during the second half. However, Christen Press from Angel City managed to break through in added time, scoring a goal that seemed to secure victory for her team.

In response, Olivia Wingate scored a last-minute equalizer for North Carolina following a strategic pass from Denise O’Sullivan. This goal extended their home unbeaten streak to 21 matches since April 2023.

North Carolina aims to tie the NWSL record for home unbeaten streaks set by Seattle in 2014-15 when they face Washington on November 2. Washington was the last team to defeat them at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Match statistics highlight that North Carolina has won 11 points from losing positions this season and scored ten goals via substitutes—more than any other team in the league. Denise O’Sullivan recorded her third assist of the season during this match.

Next up for North Carolina is an away game against Bay FC on October 19 at 10 p.m. ET.
