TIMELINE

The Ward 3 City Council vacancy appointment process will proceed with the following timeline. All meetings and work sessions will be available for the public to watch virtually. 

  • Friday, December 8 - December 21: Applications accepted through December 21 at 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 21: Questionnaire will go live for applicants to complete. Due to City Clerk by Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
  • Thursday, January 4 at 1 p.m.: City Council identifies finalists for appointment consideration during its regularly-scheduled Work Session.
  • Monday, January 8 at 7 p.m.: City Council interviews finalists at a special meeting in City Hall Council Chambers. 
  • Wednesday, January 10 at 7 p.m.: City Council will conduct a public comment period during a special meeting in City Hall Council Chambers. 
  • Tuesday, January 16 at 7 p.m.: City Council will make its final selection during its regularly-scheduled City Council meeting.
  • Week of January 22: The City Clerk will arrange the oath of office in City Hall Council Chambers.
How to Watch Meetings and Work Sessions

The January 8 and January 10 Special Meetings will be livestreamed on City’s website; on the City's YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter channels; on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV through the free Boxcast app; and televised live on Durham Television Network (Frontier channel 70 and AT&T U-verse channel 99).
