City of Durham issued the following announcement on Feb. 5.

Beginning Monday, February 6, a section of North Buchanan Boulevard in Durham will close for a stormwater drainage pipe repair. 

What You Need to Know

  • North Buchanan Boulevard between Green and West Knox streets will be closed for up to one week.
  • Detours for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians will be provided.
  • Project to replace aged and undersized stormwater pipe in the neighborhood.
North Buchanan Boulevard and sidewalks between Green Street and West Knox Street will be closed to thru-traffic for the duration of the project.  

This project will replace an aged and undersized pipe in the neighborhood. Construction time for the repair could span a week, depending upon weather conditions.

Detour signs will direct motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians away from the construction area. Detour routes will include West Knox Street and Green Street. Property owners will have access to their properties during the construction.   

This project is part of the City’s Stormwater Drainage Improvement Contract SD-2021-05 and is funded through the Stormwater Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
