CITY OF DURHAM: Help Improve Access and Walkability in Durham

City of Durham issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.

We want your input to help create more walkable communities!

Please give us your feedback by October 31 on how you think new developments should be connected to surrounding areas & existing neighborhoods for pedestrians, cyclists & Go Durham Transit riders.

The Durham City-County Planning Department wants to hear from you about how we should improve the way growth management cases are processed. Growth Management case, include zoning map changes, annexation petitions, text amendments, development agreements, and future land use map changes. We have heard from our community that the current processes need to be changed to better serve both community members and applicants.

The purpose of this engagement initiative is to:

  • Learn from Durham community members and applicants, prioritizing historically marginalized and underrepresented voices
  • Educate our community on how growth management decisions are made and how community members can influence new development being proposed today
  • Incorporate community voices and experiences into the development process
There are several steps on the path forward to making the growth management engagement initiative successful, and we’d like to invite you to be a part of this collaborative journey. Below you will find ways to engage with the current phase of this initiative.
