City of Raleigh issued the following announcement on July 19.
Are you a firefighter with at least two years of service? Consider joining the Raleigh Fire Department! RFD is accepting applications for certified, lateral transfer firefighters from July 22 until midnight on Aug. 12.
(The department’s next regular recruitment season to fill its next Fire Academy is scheduled for this fall.)
The starting salary for lateral transfer firefighters is $49,369 and there is a $4,000 signing bonus.
The minimum qualifications for lateral transfer firefighters are:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 19 years old
- Valid driver's license
- Currently employed as a full-time, paid firefighter with a minimum of two years of continuous service
- NC EMT-Basic or national registry EMT or be eligible for reciprocity.
- NC Firefighter I and II* (2013 edition) or NC Firefighter* (2019 edition)
- NC Hazardous Materials Level 1 Responder*
