COUNTY OF DURHAM: To Recognize the Good Friday Holiday Most County Offices to Close on April 15th

County of Durham issued the following announcement on Apr. 4.

Durham County Government will close most offices in recognition of the Good Friday holiday on Friday, April 15, 2022. All offices will reopen with normal hours of operation on Monday, April 18th.

Durham County General Services 

Convenience Sites 

The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on April 15th. Durham County residents with a current 2022-2023 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on Saturday, April 16th, beginning at 7 a.m. 

Roadside Recycling Collection

The Durham County roadside recycling will maintain the same schedule the week of Good Friday. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 7 a.m. on the day of pickup to avoid a missed collection.

 Durham County Library

All Durham County Library locations will be closed on Friday, April 15th and Saturday, April 16th.    All locations will reopen with regular hours of operation on Monday, April 18th.

Durham County Public Health

The Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoPH) will follow the Durham County Government Good Friday holiday closing schedule and be closed on April 15th. For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call. Public Health offices will reopen with normal business hours on April 18th.

Durham County Social Services

Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will close its offices on April 15, 2022 . While offices are closed for the holiday, residents should call (919) 560-4600 to report child abuse and neglect. Call (984)-243-1280 to report adult abuse and neglect.  An on-call social worker will be notified. On April 18, 2022, DSS offices will reopen with normal hours. Durham County Sheriff

The Durham County Sheriff’s Administration and Records Division will be closed on April 15th and will reopen on April 18th. The Sheriff’s Patrol Division, as always, is available 24/7.
