City of Durham issued the following announcement on Mar. 2.
Durham City & County to End Mask Mandate Effective March 7; City Employees will Continue to Wear Masks through March 21
- The decision is based on current COVID-19 data and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance. Officials will continue to monitor the critical metrics in the coming weeks. View the full press release.
- City employees will continue to wear face coverings inside City facilities through March 21.
- According to federal and CDC guidelines, masks are still required in healthcare facilities and on all public transportation.
- Community members are encouraged to get vaccinated. Vaccines are free and widely available in Durham and across the state.
