County of Durham issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.
On Tuesday, October 26, The Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) will begin offering booster doses of Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines within its vaccination clinic. Additionally, individuals eligible for booster vaccinations will have the opportunity to select any brand of COVID-19 vaccine for their booster shot, regardless of the brand of their original vaccinations.
The following individuals are eligible for booster vaccinations:
- Anyone age 18 or older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than two months ago.
- Anyone age 18 or older who received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than six months ago AND falls into one or more of the following categories:
- You are 65 or older, or
- You live or work in a nursing home or long-term care residential facility, or
- You have a medical condition that puts you at high risk for severe illness (for example, obesity, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes), or
- You work in a high-risk profession, meaning you come into contact with a lot of people, and you don’t know their vaccination status (for example, health care workers, first responders, teachers, food processing workers, retail and restaurant workers, and public transportation workers), or
- You live or work in a place where many people live together (for example, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, migrant farm housing, dormitories or other group living settings in colleges or universities).
To receive a booster vaccination at DCoDPH, eligible individuals may call 919-560-9217 to schedule an appointment, or visit our clinic at 414 E. Main St., Durham, NC 27701 during our walk-in hours Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9:00AM-4:00PM, and Tuesdays, 9:00AM-6:00PM. Individuals seeking to receive a booster vaccination should bring their vaccination card indicating the brand and date of their original vaccinations.
DCoDPH also continues to provide first and second dose vaccinations for all people 12 and older; Pfizer booster vaccinations for eligible individuals; and third dose Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.
