City of Durham issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

Durham Parks and Recreation and Beyond Fences are joining forces to provide a fun-filled afternoon with our canine friends! Your support will help us promote a dog friendly community and provide services to people and their pets in underserved areas.

Rain or shine!

COSTUME CONTEST

Best Individual Costume (Dog Only) - 4 p.m.

Best Group Costume - 5 p.m.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE

The Mighty Messengers of Soul will be playing from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. Join this Classic Soul Band that will get you on your feet!

PHOTO BOOTH

Participants will have an opportunity to purchase a special photo of their canine friend taken by a local photographer.

CANINE FOOD DRIVE

We will collect canine food donations for Durham dogs in need.

PET MARKET

Browse and shop for pet-related items from many local canine businesses.

LOCAL CANINE FOSTER & ADOPTION ORGANIZATIONS

Learn more about local adoption and foster organizations. You may even find their new best friend!

BEER & FOOD SALES

Beer and food will be available for purchase. More information coming soon!
