County of Durham issued the following announcement on Sep 3.
The Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents who are also social distancing important information on our programs and services with the “In Touch with Durham County” show for September 2021 shot completely online and safe!
The show is available to watch on the DCo YouTube channel here; as well as on the Durham County Government website and the Durham Television Network.
In this month’s episode, host Deborah Craig-Ray, General Manager of Strategic Planning and Innovation, welcomes Commissioner Nida Allam and Library Director Tammy Baggett-Best.
Commissioner Allam is a first-term member of the Durham Board of County Commissioners and joins us for the first time. She is a member of the history-making first all-female BOCC in the more than 140-year history of the BOCC as well as being the first Muslim-American female to hold elected office in the state of North Carolina.
She joins us to talk about her background, making history in Durham and North Carolina with her election, what it's been like being a freshman Commissioner during a global pandemic, her priorities as a Board member, her family, and much more!
Baggett-Best returns to the In Touch show with big news – the grand opening of the newly renovated Main Library has finally occurred. The project, which began in 2017, was completed in early 2020, but instead of a grand opening in April 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed opening the facility to the public until July 2021. It was certainly worth the wait, as Main Library (located at 301 N. Roxboro St.) is a state-of-the-art facility which has something for all ages.
