Policelightcar

Durham Police Department issued the following announcement on Jul. 15.

Durham police investigators are asking for information about a 2019 cold case homicide that happened on Fayetteville Street near Old Fayetteville Street.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1000 block of Fayetteville Street at 8:20 p.m. on September 27, 2019. When they arrived at the scene, they found 43-year-old Wendell Linton Zeigler in a parking lot. Zeigler, who had been shot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are trying to identify and locate a white, possibly 1997-1998 model, Jeep Cherokee seen in the area. The vehicle had rust on it, possibly around the tires, a black door handle, a roof rack, and tinted windows.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator I. Harton at (919) 560-4440 extension 29332 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
