The Durham Board of County Commissioners met for a regular session on Sept. 29.
The commissioners proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month to recognize domestic violence as one of society’s most extensive social problems, the county said in a Sept. 29 release about the virtual meeting.
The commissioners approved the Home and Community Care Block Grant Funding Plan in the amount of $2,901, including the required Durham County DSS Local Match of $66,609.
Property tax releases and refunds for August 2020 were approved. The current year and prior year’s releases and refunds total $12,712.40, the county said.
The commissioners voted to create a full-time equivalent (FTE) county-funded medical/lab director position for Durham County Public Health.
Commissioners approved Easement Agreements with Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC., (DEC) and Dominion Energy for the new EMS Station 1.
The board approved a budget ordinance amendment to recognize $200,000 from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center for a Local Economic Development Award (EDA) to then be disbursed by the County to bluebird bio, the county said.
Board members approved a budget ordinance amendment enabling the acceptance of a Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) COVID-19 Response Grant totaling $1,466,840 for Board of Elections related 2020 election costs.
