One person arrested after fatal shooting on Ardsley Drive in Durham

A man has been arrested following a fatal shooting that took place early Monday morning in Durham, North Carolina. The Durham County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as John Edward Tyler, 54, of Durham. Joseph Stevens, 50, has been charged with first degree murder in connection with Tyler’s death and is being held without bond at the Durham County Detention Facility.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on the 2500 block of Ardsley Drive shortly after 5:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they took one resident into custody without incident after he reported shooting another resident. The body of the victim was found inside the home.

“DCSO investigators and forensics personnel are currently on the scene conducting a homicide investigation,” said officials from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is still in its early stages. Authorities stated that more information will be provided as it becomes available.
