Colby Andrews and Dr. Ian Jepson have joined the Board of Directors at the Museum of Life and Science. Andrews, who works at Merck, has experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and is focused on developing talent pipelines by promoting interdisciplinary skills that combine technical knowledge with team-building abilities. He believes museums play an important role in helping communities understand the skills needed in biotechnology and manufacturing today. Andrews is also a frequent visitor and active member of the museum.
Dr. Ian Jepson brings over 35 years of experience in global agricultural biotechnology and research leadership to the board. As Site Head at Syngenta’s Research Triangle Park campus, he managed teams working on sustainable crop technologies. Jepson has supported the museum by helping secure grant funding and building relationships with local businesses.
Carrie Heinonen, President and CEO of the Museum of Life and Science, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Colby and Ian to our Board. Their expertise in biotechnology, strategic leadership, and commitment to community engagement align beautifully with the Museum’s vision. They will help us grow not only as an organization for learning but also as a connector to the region’s innovation ecosystem.”
The Museum of Life and Science is located near downtown Durham, North Carolina, covering 84 acres with indoor science exhibits, outdoor experiences like Dinosaur Trail and Aerospace, which includes Apollo-era NASA artifacts, as well as animal habitats accredited by AZA.
