Although Tropical Storm Chantal was downgraded to a tropical depression by the time it reached Durham, the storm caused heavy rains and flooding, resulting in significant damage to the community and central North Carolina. In response, Durham County and the City of Durham have compiled a list of disaster recovery resources for residents affected by the storm.

Residents needing assistance with debris cleanup or preparation for future storms are encouraged to access support and information through the shared recovery resources available at https://www.durhamnc.gov/4888/Severe-Weather-Updates-Resources. The information on this webpage may be updated in the coming days, so residents are advised to check back regularly. Updates will also be provided via social media channels for both the County and City.

Additionally, residents can sign up for emergency community notifications through phone, email, or mobile device by registering for the Alert Durham System. Alert Durham is a free service that provides emergency notifications to those who register.
