Durham Fire Department issued the following announcement on June 6.

50 Percent. That is not a small number. 

Each year nearly 3000 people die in house fires. That statistic could be cut in half if the homes had working smoke alarms.

There is a reason we are always asking you to check your family’s smoke alarms. It could genuinely save your life!
