Durham Fire Department issued the following announcement on Apr. 12.

We’re getting a lot of calls asking why there’s smoke in certain parts of Durham.
There is a 300-acre controlled burn being conducted in Chatham County, and some of that smoke is blowing our way.
We wanted to let you know that everything is safe in Durham and there is nothing to worry about!
