On February 2, 2025, Foushee expressed her sorrow over the death of Captain Rebecca Lobach, a Durham native and UNC graduate. In her post, she stated: “I’m saddened to hear that Durham native and UNC graduate, Captain Rebecca Lobach, was among the victims of the crash at Reagan National Airport.”

She warned about the severe consequences of such an action: “Trump & Musk are trying to illegally shut down an agency established by Congress. Shuttering USAID will have a disastrous global impact. This reckless move not only threatens our national security & public safety but will cost many Americans their jobs.”
