Valerie Foushee, a U.S. Congresswoman representing North Carolina’s 4th district, shared her views on recent educational and community issues through a series of tweets. Foushee, who succeeded David Price in 2023, has been active in addressing concerns that impact her constituents.
On March 12, 2025, Congresswoman Foushee expressed her commitment to supporting education by stating: “Today, I stand with our children, students, working families, and the agency employees who were senselessly fired. As a cosponsor of the Department of Education Protection Act, I will continue to explore every avenue possible to safeguard this critical federal agency.”
In another tweet on the same day, she highlighted the potential repercussions of funding cuts: “The effects of these cuts will be felt in every community across the country. Over 26 million students could lose access to critical funding to help them get ahead, while 10 million students from lower-income families could lose access to two- and four-year colleges due to cost.”
Later that day, Foushee met with representatives from the North Carolina League to discuss local infrastructure and disaster relief needs. She tweeted: “It was wonderful meeting with @NCLeague to discuss local infrastructure funding and the need for further disaster relief for NC. Thank you for all that you do for our communities, and I look forward to continuing our work to address critical issues facing the Fourth District.”
